Science and Research @ the Center for Anatomy and Cell Biology is performed in two divisions.
The Division of Anatomy is home to 5 research groups, which employ traditional dissection, cutting edge histology, multi-modal imaging and innovative experimental set-ups for researching the development, remodeling, function and pathology of cells, tissues and organs of human body donors and biomedical model organisms. The scientific focus of this division is the functional and descriptive anatomy, developmental morphology and experimental & functional imaging.
The Division of Cell Biology is home to 16 research groups, which are active in the areas of cell-, and tissue biology, epigenetics and RNA biology as well as the genetics of rare diseases. Human material and appropriate model systems are used to decipher the mechanisms and events during normal and abnormal development with a focus on remodeling of tissues and organs at the sub-cellular, cellular and organismic level.
